Maximizing Opportunities in the Essential Chemical Ingredients (ECI) Market

The chemical industry in general is fast paced and particularly the ECI, thus seizing or passing buying opportunities with a proactive approach is key to staying ahead and keeping production costs low. A preview of the current market indicates:

  • The domestic suppliers of Phosphates / Phosphate Salts boast ample capacity, but we are always seeking opportunities to get better pricing. These components and their derivatives find applications in various fields including water treatment – as a ferrous metals’ corrosion inhibitor, an industrial/institutional cleaner, buffers, food additives, fertilizers, flame retardants, among others.
  • Citric Acid manufacturers and sellers/distributors are reporting strong numbers – demand is rising and all in the supply chains are working to meet it. There is no likelihood of significant price swings even as some manufacturers prepare to go for plant maintenance within the next few weeks.
  • There may be market constraints affecting Sodium Benzoate, especially Dense Granular grade. There are anticipated improvements by July for most variants and 2-3 months later for Dense. Lead times for Calcium Sulfate are also improving and will be much better in Q2.
  • For Calcium Chloride, there is expected continuation of sales control for the tech grade material through Q2, with food-grade Calcium Chloride likely available for new customers. Allocations for Sodium Chloride were removed this month.
